Devils Den Hiking Trail (www.arkansasstateparks.com/devilsden)

This flagship hiking only namesake trail at one of Arkansas’ busiest state parks is frequented by nearly 100,000 users a year. Dave Renko and Chris Crone where hired to do drainage work, revegetation and unwanted trail obliteration on the entire trail. They also replaced a 36-foot long walking bridge with a 14-foot high trestle. Several WPA stone staircases were rebuilt along with some creative turnpike work. Tough access and inclement weather added to the challenge. More efforts to rebuff the trail are in the works for 2008.
